The Prospects Hockey Tournament has been the premier spring showcase hockey tournament for NCAA Division 1 hockey for the past 14 yrs. Last year 38 NCAA Division 1 teams were in attendance at the 15 and 16/17 year-old tournaments. Over 2000 Prospects alumni have gone onto play NCAA Division 1 hockey.

Given NCAA teams strong participation in Prospects over the past 14 years, the 14, 15 and 16/17 year old tournaments will now be called the -

THE PROSPECTS COLLEGE CUP

This year NCAA Division 1 coaches will be giving seminars about NCAA Division 1 hockey: How NCAA teams scout, what they look for, what NCAA rules they have to abide by, what campus life is like, academically how to get to an NCAA school and how to stay eligible, the difference between scholarship schools and financial aid schools, the success NCAA has had in developing players for the NHL, etc.

Participants will also be able to speak 1 on 1 with Division 1 coaches to answer individual questions.

Participants will be offered the opportunity to fill out a detailed questionnaire regarding current and past athletic and academic results. Each participant will receive the "Guide for the College Bound Student Athlete".

The Prospects College Cup will be much more then a showcase of each players' talents. It will be an education on the academic and athletic opportunities of NCAA College Hockey.

NCAA Division 1 hockey graduates 84% of its student athletes with university/college degrees that serve the players for the rest of their lives.

NCAA Division 1 hockey provides the NHL with 25% its players.

In the NHL, the NCAA stock is on the rise. The NCAA produced 1% of all NHL players in 1967, 9% in 1979, and have steadily seen their numbers go up to 25% over the past 27 years.

The Prospects Hockey Tournament has been the premiere showcase tournament for 14 years. Over 2000 Prospects graduates have gone on to play NCAA Division 1 hockey including Paul Stastny (Denver), Zach Parise (North Dakota), Mike Cammalleri (Michigan) , Patrick Sharp (Vermont), Brian Gionta (Boston College), Andrew Cogliano (Michigan), Andy McDonald (Colgate), and Phil Kessel (Minnesota). Rick Dipietro (Boston University) joins Joe Thornton, Sidney Crosby, Erik Johnson (Minnesota), Patrick Kane and Rick Nash as NHL 1st overall draft picks who are Prospects alumni.
