WHAT DOES PROSPECTS DO?
Dating back to 1995, Bob Turow and Lindsay Hofford jointly created the Prospects Hockey Tournament with the purpose of the event being the most skilled and competitive spring/summer hockey showcase in North America.
With Hofford's departure after the 1996 tournaments, Turow has been the President and sole owner of Prospects Tournaments Inc.
Throughout its 12 year existence Prospects::
1) Has graduated over 2000 graduates moving on the NCAA Division 1 hockey, over 1000 moving onto the USHL, over 200 alumni having played in the NHL and over 1500 moving on to Major Junior Hockey.
2) Has been the most scouted spring and summer event byJunior and NCAA coaches and scouts. Each year basically every NCAA, USHL and other Junior and Prep League teams scout Prospects.
Beginning in 2001 Prospects recognized the growth in women's hockey and the opportunities that came with it. 2001 saw the start of the women's tournament. By 2006, Prospects Alumni playing in the NCAA, CIS, Canadian Programs, and USA Programs well exceeded over 400 players.
Realizing the need for quality spring/summer tournaments for atoms and peewees Prospects began tournaments for these ages in 2002. While these tournaments are not scouted events Prospects still holds them to the same high standards as the older tournaments where only the best spring/summer teams are allowed to participate.
In 2005 Prospects formed a relationship with the United States Hockey League to form its first ever USHL Central Scouting Bureau and Recruiting Agency. Like NHL Central Scouting, the focus is to identify North America's elite hockey players and then educate them on the value of the USHL and how the USHL is not only the best option at making it to the NHL but also in obtaining a university/college education through the NCAA. Effective in the 2006/07 season the USHL and Prospects have implemented a 3 year plan to increase the number of graduates that was already at a staggering 151 for 11 teams in the 05/06 season and to increase the number of NHL draft selections in which the USHL had 2 first round selections in the 2006 NHL Draft. Prospects has a scouting staff of 20 that cover all of North America in search of the top players.
The preparation needed to operate a tournament of this magnitude is immense, and Prospects takes great pride in making sure that the tournament is second to none, which it has been since it's start in the year 1995.
New and future ventures for the Prospects Hockey Tournament will include Club Team events. Unlike our elite showcases, which are not club team events, Prospects will soon begin operation of Men's and Women's Club team events across the USA and Canada. Look for more in the future!
